Brief Biography – A Multifaceted Dance Artist and Educator

Carina, an accomplished dance artist and educator, has been immersed in the world of dance since her early childhood. Her journey began with training in jazz, tap, ballet, and gymnastics, and by the age of 15, she was already assistant teaching and performing alongside seasoned professionals.

In 1993, Carina embarked on a new chapter in her dance career, delving into the realm of ballroom and Latin American dance. Over two decades, she honed her skills in all four styles of competitive ballroom and Latin dance, as well as social dances. Her dedication and talent led her to compete internationally in the Professional American Rhythm category, where she triumphed with seven first-place awards.

In 2009, Carina returned to her roots in jazz, tap, and stage performance, with a renewed focus on musical theatre. As an instructor, principal dancer, choreographer, and assistant director, she has made significant contributions to the field.

Carina’s passion for dance extends beyond the traditional boundaries, embracing an interdisciplinary approach that encompasses various fields from the performing arts and the humanities. This unique perspective allows her to create a rich tapestry of artistic expression, fostering a dynamic dialogue between dance, music, theatre, and academic discourse.

Carina’s academic achievements further underscore her commitment to dance. She holds an MFA in Dance from Montclair State University and a BS in Liberal Studies from Northern Arizona University. Her rich blend of practical experience and academic knowledge positions her as a respected figure in both academia and the performing arts industry. Her story is a testament to her dedication, versatility, and relentless pursuit of artistic excellence.
